Lee Geum-ja (Lee Young Ae) is getting out of prison. She was convicted in a sensational case of murdering a young schoolboy, and has spent her time in prison apparently undergoing a spiritual transformation. Completely rehabilitated, she is paroled and finds a job in a local bakery. What no one knows is that Geum-ja was innocent. Mr. Baek (Choi Min-sik), the real killer, forced her to confess by threatening to kill her newborn daughter. Now on the outside, Geum-ja reunites with her daughter. She begins to distance herself from the spiritually pious inmate everyone thought she was, as she plots the kidnapping and murder of Mr. Baek, the man who ruined her life. During her investigation, she realizes that Mr. Baek must have killed more than just one child. Geum-ja realizes she now has a way to help the parents of children killed by Mr. Baek, as well as herself, get sweet revenge.
