As Christmas approaches, Ronna (Sarah Polley), a grocery store cashier, is in desperate need of extra money in order to cover her rent for the month. When fellow employee Simon (Desmond Askew) dashes off for a quick vacation in Las Vegas, he gives her his shift. Meanwhile, actors Adam (Scott Wolf) and Zack (Jay Mohr) who have recently been busted for drug possession, make a deal which involves them participating in a sting operation. They visit the grocery store looking for Simon, who is known to sell ecstasy, but as he is away, they ask Ronna if she can obtain the drugs for them instead. She agrees, but has no idea of the events waiting to unfold over the course of the evening -- events which may result in her own death.
