Robin Williams starts as Rainbow Randolph, an extremely popular but also very corrupt host of a children's television show. He ends up being fired from his TV show after getting caught and spirals into depression. In the meantime, his show is replaced by "Smoochy the Rhino," a character played by Sheldon Mopes (Edward Norton). Rainbow Randolph becomes obsessed with destroying Sheldon Mopes' career. In addition, the two also clash over their mutual love interest Nora (Catherine Keener), an employee of the television station. The movie climaxes with a charity ice show that brings together the mafia, a brain-damaged boxer, and both Smoochy and Rainbow Randolph. |
