“Million Dollar Baby” is a 2004 film directed by Clint Eastwood. It is about a female boxer Maggie (Hilary Swank) who is trained by Frank Dunn (Clint Eastwood). The two of them develop a father-daughter relationship, which replaces the bad relationship between Frank and his own real-life daughter. Maggie works her way up the boxing ranks, but during a championship match, Maggie is injured and ends up paralyzed in the hospital. Her family tries to get her to sign over her boxing fortunes to them, but Frank objects, as does Maggie herself eventually. Maggie does not want to go on living and unsuccessfully attempts suicide. She asks Frank to end her suffering. |
