One of the most unsavory hospitals in Boston is the Shutter Island facility in the 1950s, and young United States Marshal Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) draws the assignment with his partner Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo) to locate a missing patient who murdered her children years earlier. What Daniels discovers there shocks him because several doctors may be engaging in dubious, if not illegal, experiments. Once on the island, Daniels begins to have strange headaches, leading to his doubt about his own sanity. Soon a hurricane strands him in the facility where Dr. Cawley (Ben Kingsley) may or may not be helpful to a marshal who once helped liberate a concentration camp during the War, which Shutter Island begins to resemble. |
